Last time I looked it is typically $20 USD.So here’s the tip for you: download CleanMyMac X to refresh your Mac’s drive automatically. If you search the internet for something like "buying Yosemite OS" you might be able to find a CDROM you can buy. You want to boot from the CDROM, erase the internal hard drive, install the old macOS on the computer. Hold the OPTION key until you see an option to boot from the CDROM. An easier solution might be to see if you can buy an older version of macOS and install from that. If this sounds really complicated, it is. If you happen to have a backup with the installer still in the /Applications folder, you can use that installer to create a bootable drive. Normally if you upgrade through the AppStore it will download the installer to your /Applications folder and run from there. For example, the installer for Yosemite might be "Install Yosemite.app". If you do want to go back to an older version of macOS you are going to have to find the installer for the version you want. I uninstalled everything and turned it into something which would have some basics and is mostly used for surfing the web (online games, Facebook, Netflix, etc.) and it is fine for that. I am a power users and had a bunch of things installed (Office 2008, XCode, etc.) and it was REALLY slow. Before I upgraded it to El Capitan I was already using 6 GB of RAM.
